How to Make a Kite : Making a Kite: Tie Sticks to Plastic

Now we turn the kite over to the opposite
side, and we lay the stick across the back of the kite, and it should line up to where
we’ve made our little slits into the corners. Then, what we’re going to do is we’re going
to take a string, and cut some small pieces; they should be about five or six inches long,
and this is going to be used to run through the holes of the plastic, and then, tie them
to the ends of the stick. We see that the string can be put through the hole, and brought
around and gone into the second hole, and once the two ends are hanging out we can then
go ahead and put the stick flat onto the corner. Now the two strings that are sticking up will
be able to make just a simple knot, and tie it onto the end of the stick where the dibble
is. We wrap it around again; going underneath the stick, and make another knot on top of
the dibble to give it more support. This way, the plastic of the kite will not get detached
from the sticks. Make sure that you leave enough space there to make your knots, so
make your strings long enough, and again, about five to six inches should be enough.
We go ahead, and do that to all corners of the kite; putting one end of the string through
one side, and put the other string through the other side. Both ends of the string should
be facing up, so that when we lay the stick down it could be fastened and tied to the
plastic. Once we’ve made the knots on each corner of the sticks, we go ahead and take
a drop of glue, and put them on top of the knots that we’ve made, just to give it more
support. This is how we attach the sticks to our kite, and we see that it has given
it its shape, and it makes the kite nice and sturdy; ready to be set off in the wind.
